'Star Wars' Icon Chewbacca Invades 'Glee'

I feel a great disturbance in the Force late last week Matthew Morrison of "Glee" told Jimmy Kimmel that next Tuesdays episode will include a throwback and a tribute to the Star Wars Holiday Special and the Judy Garland Christmas Special. And -- wait for it -- Chewbacca will be in it. While I would never utter a derogatory word about Judy, the Star Wars Holiday Special is another matter entirely. Widely regarded as one of the most tragic TV disasters of all time, the 1978 special included the entire core cast of A New Hope doing, saying and singing truly vomit-inducing things. George Lucas never hid the fact that he found the project contemptible, so why on Hoth would he give the makers of Glee permission, as Morrison said, to use Chewbacca (not Peter Mayhew but the official Chewy nonetheless) in their Christmas episode? My only wish is that the Glee folks give the Wookiee the respect he deserves (his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards was indeed well-earned). If hes treated like a big walking carpet, it will be the last Glee episode I will ever see. Tell us what you think in the comments and on Twitter!
